The Dow Clinic Podiatrists are in General PrivatePractice offering the highest standards of Foot Care. Both are highly experienced practioners and highly skilled in many areas of Podiatry and Chiropody.

We are also the only Clinic of any type in the  North East of England able to offer the revolutionary PinPointe FootLaser treatment for fungally infected toenals.

Fungal nail infections are the UK's most common nail disease.
Something like 5 -10% of the UK'S population has onychomycosis, and the older the individual the far more likely it is to affect you. It has been estimated that perhaps nearly 50% of the population over 50 will have it.The disease is characterised by a slow destruction of the integrity of the nail by thickening of the toenail plate, debris under the toenail, a lifting of the leading edge of the nail, a change in nail colour and often an unpleasant odour. Patients complain that toenail fungus is uncomfortable, ugly and embarrassing; they just do not want their nails rotting on their toes.
Doctors, and patients alike, often ignore this condition because the infection can be present for years without causing any debilitating pain.

The effects of onychomycosis aren't simply cosmetic; if ignored, the infection can spread to the skin on the feet or other toenails, fingernails and to other people too [such as family members]. Severe cases can impair one's ability to walk or lead to painful ingrown toenails. Secondary bacterial infections may occur on or around the toenail plate and it can be a significant concern to those with diabetes, circulatory disorders or compromised immune systems. A thickened nail may limit usual activities. It may press on the inside of footwear, for example, causing discomfort and pain. This in turn can cause problems when walking, playing sport and reduce mobility.

Using the very latest laser technology, unsightly and embarrassing nail fungus could now be eradicated with just one treatment at Europes leading nail laser clinic.
